Javad Afshar brings ‘The Hunter’ to Fajr Int’l Film Festival

Iranian director Javad Afshar is set to participate in the 43rd Fajr International Film Festival with his latest film, ‘The Hunter’.

The movie, produced by Mohammad-Reza Shafiee, will premiere at the event, showing a narrative inspired by the life of the martyred Lieutenant Colonel Ali Sayyad Shirazi.

Written by Hossein Torabnejad after years of meticulous research, ‘The Hunter’ delves into the life and legacy of Lieutenant Colonel Shirazi, a former commander of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army Ground Forces and a prominent member of the Supreme Defense Council.

Known for his instrumental role in resolving the 1979 armed movement in Iran's Kordestan region, Shirazi was a pivotal figure during the Iran-Iraq war.

Tragically, after 32 years of distinguished service, he was assassinated in Tehran by terrorist elements of the Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization.

The film explores profound themes of sacrifice, duty, and fate, encapsulated in its tagline: “For a long time, this question has not left me, why do bullets pass by me and ignore me?!”

Afshar’s ‘The Hunter’ is to draw significant attention at the festival, further establishing his reputation as a leading figure in Iranian cinema. Fans and critics alike eagerly await the film’s unveiling during the festival in Tehran.
